How to Brew with Organic Hops

Our Certified Organic Hops can be used seamlessly anywhere traditional Whole Leaf Hops or pellets are used. When brewing Organic Certified beers, brewers must follow specific production and labeling guidelines as set forth by the governing body of their certification.

Kettle

Kettle Brewing

Organic Hops may be used at any point during the pre-boil and boil stages of the brewing process. Exact utilization rates will vary based on brewhouse efficiency. If using Whole Leaf Organic Hops, additional equipment may be necessary to screen hops from entering process piping.
Whirlpool

Post-Boil/Whirlpool

Organic Hops are a perfect solution for post-boil or whirlpool applications in organic beers. Dosing rates will vary based on desired aroma intensity. If using Whole Leaf Organic Hops, additional equipment may be necessary to screen hops from entering process piping.
Fermentation

Active Fermentation Dry Hop

Organic Hops may be used in active-fermentation dry hop scenarios. Please take extra care to ensure the safety of your brewery in this step, as additional fermentation activity can cause foam-over of cellar vessels. If using Whole Leaf Organic Hops, additional equipment may be necessary to screen hops from entering process piping.
Dry hopping

Post Fermentation Dry Hop

Organic Hops are an excellent choice for dry-hoping organic beers. The fine particle size and low density of our organic pellets allow for maximum extraction of bold aromas and flavors. Whole Leaf hops may be used in any dry hop scenario where a pellet is used. Additional equipment may be necessary to screen hops from entering process piping.

Quote Mark

YCH has been nothing but a pleasure to work with over my six years at Aslan. Throughout the years our reps have been kind, compassionate, patient with the ebbs and flows of running a business, and champions of our sustainability mission. Working with organics isn't easy on any level, but YCH makes it as seamless as possible. We really value our relationship with them as well as the farmers they work alongside to bring us a great organic product year after year.
